THE IBIZA CANDLES / JOURNAL

Fabio Camarotta and the sculptural dimension of a candle

In ARTE, a candle is not presented merely as a scented product. It is a form that can be kept, a surface worked by hand and a work that exists as a single piece in each finish.

The artist's hand

ARTE pieces are created and hand-painted by Fabio Camarotta. That intervention makes surface, colour and finish part of each object's identity.

We do not attribute undocumented statements, biographical intentions or specific techniques to the artist. What the collection does reveal is the importance of reinterpreting a single form through different visual treatments.

Four families, four visual languages

MONKEY explores a figure with a strong visual presence, reinterpreted through contrasting colours and finishes. BUDDHA takes a form associated with serenity and transforms it through material and surface.

HEART HANDS turns an affectionate gesture into a sculptural object. HANDS UP begins with another recognisable gesture and gives it an expressive language, sometimes metallic or intensely colourful.

What it means for every piece to be unique

The ARTE collection comprises 31 individual pieces. Each is available as a single unit on Shopify. Once sold, it is no longer available.

This calls for a particular approach to presenting the catalogue: the work does not disappear when sold. It remains visible, marked as sold out, to preserve the collection's history.

Scent as a personal choice

Product pages allow you to choose a piece's scent before completing your purchase. The form and finish belong to the work, while its olfactory dimension is chosen at the point of acquisition.

The experience brings together two ways of relating to an object: looking at it and using it. One need not exclude the other.

Keeping what remains

The collection is built around a central idea: a piece can remain as sculpture after the candle has been consumed. The object's life does not necessarily end with its function as a candle.

It is an invitation to consider the value of what remains, alongside the pleasure of what is consumed.
